Aim of the webinar:

The aim of the webinar is to discuss how schools adapt to climate-related disasters. The main questions that will be addresed include:

  • What helps educational institutions build resilience?
  • What affects the decision-making process of educational institutions in the face of change caused by disaster disruption?

The discussion will also focus on factors that make schools either vulnerable or resilient, the role of leadership in post-disaster recovery, and innovative research methodologies.

The webinar will build on a multiple-case study of Croatian primary schools affected by floods and earthquakes between 2022 and 2023.

Programme of the webinar:

  1. Dr Karin Doolan, Institute for Social Research Zagreb, will be first referring to how schools adapt to disasters related to climate change.

  2. The discussion will then focus on the Croatian example, which will delved into how primary schools in the country responded to floods and earthquakes in 2022 and 2023.
  3. Throughout the webinar, emphasis will be put on the factors resulting in schools' resilience or vulnerability to climate-related disasters.
